Kawai CA401W Premium Satin White Piano digital

Kawai CA401W — Concert Artist Touch and Tone in a Compact Home Piano

The Kawai CA401W brings the touch and tone of the Concert Artist series into a slim, furniture-style cabinet finished in satin white. At its core sits the Grand Feel Compact wooden-key action, with long wooden keysticks for all 88 keys and the seesaw mechanism found in acoustic grand pianos. Players will find a digital piano that responds like an upright or grand, with triple-sensor detection and let-off simulation. This model is the right choice for pianists who want authentic acoustic feel without the maintenance of a real piano.

What Sets the CA401W Apart

Unlike entry-level slab pianos, this model uses a wooden-key action with seesaw pivot geometry, the same design language as Kawai's flagship CA-series instruments. Its sound engine captures the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Competition Grand from the player's perspective, producing a three-dimensional stereo image. Damper and String resonance add the sympathetic vibrations that make an acoustic piano sound alive when the sustain pedal is pressed.

Action and Touch — The Feel of an Acoustic Grand

The Grand Feel Compact action mimics the weight and seesaw pivot of a real grand. Long wooden keysticks, counterweights in the bass region, and graded hammer weighting give the left hand more resistance than the right, just like an acoustic instrument. Triple-sensor detection captures fast repeated notes accurately, while let-off simulation recreates the subtle notch sensation near the bottom of each key's travel.

• Keyboard Action: Grand Feel Compact with 88 wooden keysticks, seesaw pivot, and Ivory Touch key surfaces
• Sensor System: Triple Sensor with graded hammer weighting and let-off simulation for expressive dynamic control
• Keyboard Modes: Dual, 4Hands with adjustable volume and balance for teacher-student duets or layered sounds

Sound Engine — Shigeru Kawai Sampling and Harmonic Imaging

Three source instruments supply the piano voices: the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Competition Grand, the Kawai EX concert grand, and the K-60 upright. Progressive Harmonic Imaging reproduces every key with full 88-key sampling, while Damper and String resonance add sympathetic vibrations. A 192-note polyphony budget keeps complex passages clean and complete.

• Piano Sounds: Shigeru Kawai SK-EX Competition Grand, Kawai EX with full 88-key Progressive Harmonic Imaging sampling
• Polyphony: 192 notes for sustained passages without dropped notes
• Voices and Lessons: 19 instrument voices, 19 sound demo songs, 40 Concert Magic songs plus built-in lesson songs

Speaker System, Pedals, and Connectivity

A four-speaker system delivers the sound without external monitors — two 13 cm woofers and two 5 cm tweeters driven by 2 × 20 W amplification. The Grand Feel Pedal System provides Damper with half-pedal support, plus Soft and Sostenuto. Bluetooth MIDI v5 and Bluetooth Audio v5.1 handle wireless connectivity, while USB-to-Host links the piano to computers and tablets.

• Built-in Speakers: 2 × 20 W (40 W total) with two woofers (13 cm) and two tweeters (5 cm)
• Pedal System: Grand Feel Pedal System — Damper with half-pedal, Soft, Sostenuto
• Display and Wireless: 128 × 128 pixel OLED, Bluetooth MIDI v5, Bluetooth Audio v5.1, USB to Host

Who Should Choose the Kawai CA401W

Pianists who have already experienced acoustic pianos will find a convenient, low-maintenance alternative that still feels and sounds like the real thing. Its compact 1360 × 485 × 915 mm cabinet fits small to medium rooms — apartments, home studios, and teaching spaces — without sacrificing the weighted wooden-key feel. Built-in lesson songs, a metronome with seven time signatures, and Concert Magic pieces support both self-study and structured lessons. This instrument is the right choice for advancing students, returning players, and teachers who need an authentic-feeling instrument in a furniture-grade cabinet.
