Battery-Powered Stereo Amplifier for Performers On the Go

The Roland CUBE Street EX is a 50W battery-powered portable amplifier built for musicians who perform anywhere a wall outlet isn't guaranteed. Inside a compact 7.4 kg ABS cabinet, dual 8-inch woofers and twin 2-inch tweeters deliver true stereo sound. Four independent channels accept microphones, electric and acoustic guitars, keyboards, drum machines, and stereo line sources at once. Selectable power modes stretch eight AA batteries from a 50W blast down to a 10W whisper, giving up to 20 hours of cable-free operation. This model handles vocals, instruments, and backing tracks in one box.

COSM Modeling, i-CUBE Link, and Stereo Linking

What separates this amp from typical portable combos is Roland's COSM amp modeling alongside a dedicated acoustic preamp, letting guitarists switch between Clean, Crunch, Lead, and an Acoustic Simulator. i-CUBE Link turns the unit into an audio interface for iPhone and iPad, while Stereo Link jacks allow two units to be chained for larger crowds.

Switchable Power Modes and Long Battery Life

Three modes let a performer match the amp to the gig, while the optional BTY-NIMH/A Rechargeable Amp Power Pack extends Eco-mode endurance to roughly 40 hours.

• Maximum Power Output: 50 W (25 W + 25 W stereo) — headroom for small outdoor crowds
• Power Modes: Max 50 W / Normal 25 W / Eco 10 W — match output to venue size
• Users can expect up to 20 hours of runtime from Ni-MH AA batteries in Eco mode, providing a full day of busking per charge.

Stereo Speaker Configuration

Each side of the 50W power stage feeds its own woofer and tweeter pair, producing genuine stereo imaging.

• Woofers: 2 × 20 cm (8 in) — handle low end and vocal warmth
• Tweeters: 2 × 5 cm (2 in) — keep cymbals and acoustic guitar crisp
• ABS injection-molded cabinet with angled back — doubles as a stage monitor

Four Channels with Per-Channel EQ and Effects

Mic/Instrument and Mic/Guitar channels use XLR/TRS combo jacks, while Line In and Audio In cover playback.

• Channels: 4 independent — mix two vocals, guitar, and backing tracks
• Mic Inputs: 2 × XLR/TRS combo — two vocalists or mic-plus-instrument
• COSM tones (Clean, Crunch, Lead, Acoustic Simulator) plus acoustic preamp and tuner

Buskers, Duos, Presenters, and Traveling Performers

Pick this amplifier for street performers, singer-songwriters, and small-ensemble leaders who need a single amplifier that runs for hours without mains power. Buskers will appreciate the angled-back cabinet that doubles as a floor monitor, while duos can plug two mics, a guitar, and a backing track into the four channels. Presenters gain clean, full-range voice reproduction with enough headroom for outdoor crowds.

Legacy of the CUBE Series

Roland was founded in 1972 in Osaka, Japan, and has shaped electronic music for decades through instruments like the TR-808, TR-909, and TB-303. The CUBE series has been part of that story since 1978, evolving into a global family of portable combos. This flagship of the busking-focused Street line builds on the original model's reputation with more power, more channels, and true stereo playback.
